Transferring music from Zune player to pc

I just bought an HP Envy All in 1 w Windows 8. I want to put my music from Zune player onto the computer. I downloaded Zune software, but I cant get music from Zune player to PC. I don't want to use Xbox music if possible. Anyone know how I can continue using Zune on PC and more importantly put my music on PC in Zune file?

If the Zune conects to the PC OK, you should be able to access the songs via the Windows Explorer.

I have an iPhone5 and I can access pictures on the phone that way.

Been a while since I used it, but from what I recall, you can NOT access the Zune through Windows Explorer; instead, you must use the Zune software.

When I used it, I had a directory system on my hard drive which contained all the media files for the Zune. I could use Windows Explorer to manipulate files and directories in that file structure, but I had to use the Zune to transfer files to/from it.

If you can't get the Zune software to work, I think you're stuck. I liked my Zune a lot -- good hardware (for its day) but crappy software.
