    HP Pavilion Audio Stutter Help!

This is driving me nuts! Bought this Pavilion p6-2317c desktop a couple months ago.
It has Win 8 x64, 8gb ram, and integrated IDT audio. It worked great out of box for a while, then I started noticing a slight break or stutter in music, whether online or on my hard drive. I tried installing fresh drivers, etc and paid attention to programs and games I had installed, but was stumped. SO I reinstalled Win 8 back fresh and everything was fixed! Now, 3 weeks later, same stutter issue!!!! I looked around here on other folks' issues and downloaded and ran the crash diagnostic tool, the results of which are attached. ANY help is greatly appreciated!!!!!!

Believe it or not, I also got that problem on dv6 envy.

What I noticed here, is that it only happens with WMP, very rare on Music APP and it doesn't happen on MPC-Homecinema (Media Player Classic)... so I use the latest two until WMP gets a fix or something.

I also messed with drivers, programs and updated all but for nothing. It's puzzling.
But since not all music players are affected, it doesn't worry me anymore. Maybe we'll find something, a fix to that, I really hope so.

    Cheers

As it works ok, for a while, after a clean install; this suggests some added application could be the culprit. Look back over what has been installed since the last reinstall, especially those that are in the startup and start temporarily disabling them one at a time to see if it makes a difference.

One other trick that helps, sometimes but not always, is to uninstall the sound, in the device manager, then restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and install the sound on a difference shared IRQ. Sound is always on a shared IRQ with a higher priority device and can be "interrupted" and cause stuttering.

Hopachi, thanks for the rep. But, what I posted are just some suggestions on what could be the problem, not that it is the definitive answer.

No problem Jack. It's something worth testing if I get the time.
I'm still not sure if my problem and that from OP are the same but in my case it seems to be WMP-related because all other players work fine.

It is the same on every player or web-based app (like Slacker or Pandora). I tried uninstalling all audio from the device manager and allowing Windows to reinstall, but am listening to Slacker right now and I'm still getting that occasional slight buzz interrupt. *sigh*

Sorry to hear that. It seems to be a quite serious issue that differs from what I have here.

How about other programs that are in the startup, as I mentioned. Temporarily disable one at a time, those that were installed after the problem started to see if one of them is causing it. This is a good area to zero in on since it worked after the reinstall but then started doing it again later - possiblity that something installed later caused it.
