    Volume Meter

Not sure if this belongs here, but I posted in Sound/Audio and got no responses.
I assume this is probably something you can change is Regedit.

When I press my FN keys that control volume, the +volume and -volume do not make the metro style volume bar show up. However, when I press mute, it shows the volume bar. When I press mute/unmute and then +volume and -volume, the bar shows up and it slides, but it quickly disappears even though I keep changing the volume.

Here are images of the bar I am talking about just to clarify

I had something very similar on my desktop. One day the volume meter worked and then for almost a week didn't show up at all. Then all of a sudden it re-appeared and has been working ever since. During this anomaly, there were some MS updates, so not sure if that had anything to do with it. All is working fine now.

The second time when it's not working, it also doesn't work in the taskbar/notification so it seems sound is disabled or drivers failed (to load). You can click on the sound icon in the taskbar and a troubleshooter will start to analyse the problem.

I'd recommend a sound driver update, knowing what sound card that is.

It's possible one of the updates contained the sound driver.
That's why is recommended to check for updates.

When the updates don't find sound drivers then the user has to search for those manually online.

If it's the one that appears on top left of screen, I don't know how to disable it.
