Option to "not monitor mic"

Realtek 6.0.1.6657. When I use the Mic in the front slot, I can hear myself through the speakers. I would like to disable this but there is no option for "do not monitor mic" through playback options. Is there a registry setting I could adjust or another solution?

That is a bane of everyone that uses a mic. That is the reason many go to a headset with a mic as that minimizes feedback from the mic.

The other option is to turn the speaker volume to off.
