Sound On Windows 8 Sounds Better Than On Windows 7

I've noticed the sound is a lot louder & clearer on my computer running Windows 8 -- using the Windows 7 SoundMAX driver -- than it is on Windows 7, anyone have any idea why that may be..?!

I haven't noticed any difference between 7 and 8. I've got one PC with dual boot 7 and 8 and another PC with 8 only and a laptop with 7 only.

Maybe the SoundMAX driver you have on 8 is different version than you had installed on 7?

Nope, it's the same one I use on 7, because there are no SoundMAX drivers for the card I have for Win8 -- because ASUS, etc. do not make any updates for this card anymore -- so I installed the Win7 driver.

Anyways, I am having a tonne of issues that started yesterday -- may have started before that -- with Win8, so I am going back to Win7 for a while, after I finish watching two movies, then the wipe & reinstall begins.

I noticed the same thing with my Auzentech Forte. I'm hearing some additional detail in the songs I'm listening to, which is fantastic.

Not everyone likes Windows AppEvent sounds, and in the past it has been possible to toggle sounds on or off or remove a sound from any event using the sounds control panel applet. Windows 8 rp does not give much of a choice. Windows 8 continues its deconstruction of what we knew and expected of...
This is a little Acer Revo with Win8.1. For some reason I no longer hear system sounds. I have tested playing random wave files which produce sound. But when I test the system sounds I get nothing. I could have somehow caused this some time ago. I really hate the default Win8 sound scheme. I...

I am fully aware threads of this nature exist, however they conflict with other threads and videos that are out there. According to this post is is not possible, but there is a work-around. However according to so many articles and videos it is entirely possible to re-enable the sound. I...
Firstly Hi, i'm brand new. Secondly, apologies if this has already been covered. I recently purchased a Lenovo G580 from Curry's. My main intention of use is to write and record music on some music recording software. This software hasn't arrived yet, so I was playing around with the Sound...
