I have no sound however whenever i open the playback device menu and Test the speakers the tone happens in both of my speakers. however if i just open my mixer then left click the volume bar will jump up and become green however no sound is made. I have a AMD FX(tm)-6100 Six core Processor with 8GB of RAM Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series. With Logitech s120 speakers... In my device manager under Sound, video and game controllers i see AMD High Definition Audio Device and High Definition Audio Device both are said to be working properly. Under Audio inputs and outputs there is Digital Audio (S/PDIF) (High Definition Audio Device) and Speakers (High Definition Audio Device) Please help me i love this computer and i just bought these speakers today and I know they work because i have played music with my ipod through them PLLLLZZZ HELP if possible.. i will try to keep in touch with whoever tries to help

When the driver installation is complete, you will need to set your audio settings again in the Realtek HD Audio Manager in the Control Panel (Classic View) I think i have done this but just to be safe is there any way you could help me step by step? because i am still having problems with sound.

Which should be good enough.

Now, there still seems to be a conflict. I'm going to help you through the steps that I would go through.

Okay.. Let's begin..

1. Go to 'Device Manager' and delete all sound related drivers, you said you had AMD drivers, delete all the drivers related to AMD too.
You can do this by rightclicking the devices and press uninstall.
Since you are also deleting your amd drivers, there might be a misfunction of your graphics driver when you do this. This is normal.

2. download and install this baby:
Thank you for downloading

3. start Driver Fusion with admin rights.

4. On the left there's a row with drivers, delete all audio and amd related drivers.

5. The program will ask you to reboot, it's easier to reboot after you removed all the drivers instead of just one.

6. Let's reinstall that audio driver of yours:

7. Reboot after the installation (as you have noticed, it asks you to reboot)

8. reinstall the Catalyst control center (AMD graphics & HDMI driver)
http://www2.ati.com/drivers/auto/amddriverdownloader.exe

9. Use the express settings

10. Reboot after you installed the Catalyst Control Center and the drivers it provides.

There! Everything should be working now.

btw, you should've told us it was an upgrade instead of a clean install. There are always conflicting drivers with an upgraded windows 8.

What should i set as my default device for sound /// Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) OR Realtek Digital Output (Realtek High Definition Audio)

No, I didn't expect you to have that. Clever one, leave those the way they are. To be more precise, do you even have an AMD GFX card?

EDIT:
Sorry, re-read your first post. You have one, make sure you delete that one too.
And, check your installed programs for the catalyst control center, make sure it is not installed. Else, uninstall it.

I have no clue what a clean install even is. and Sound is still not working. All that comes out is static that sounds somwhat like the music im trying to play. and i've already checked if the speakers work on another computer. and they do, should i go back into device manager and uninstall all 6 of the Processor drivers as well as all other amd drivers and try this process again? is there any reason that it would give me better results?

I have tried plugging earphones in to both the speakers and directly into my computer and i get the same result./ My logitech headset works just fine although i have no clue if that helps.

if it's inserted in the same hole, yeah it does. Because if that's the case, your drivers are functioning normal. Can you try to plug in your speakers again and slowly try to pull it out while there is music playing..? It might be a hardware problem. It could be that when it's half out, the thing works perfectly. In that case it's broken.

ok let me try.. and the Logitech headset is inserted to a usb port not the back of the comp.// k it doesn't play when half way in and the music is somewhat more discernible now it just has waaaay to much static for me to be able to use

so switching works fine, your driver is sending the right signal, my guess is that the jack is indeed broken.
