WHERE are all the apps? I go to the store, type in Calculator and see one app? I have tried to find multimedia8, (this was suggested by Into Windows , and no results for the app , all the store shows is 6 apps ? I have been desperately trying to like win8, (Windows 8 release preview with media center build 8400) Each category listed has not even NEAR a hundred apps in ANY of them?! there are only 20 categories?! I would REALLY like to find a simple unit converter.....just one would be cool! I think the highest apps in any category was 65?! Help! what am I doing wrong here? Do you have to pay?, just to view them?!!

Hello radar 1. Welcome to EightForums.

Please remember that MS is just getting into the app business. Google, iMe, and others have huge stores already.

MS already has a dynamite calculator in 8 that runs on the desktop. When on Start Screen type calculator. Right click for option to pin to Start Screen.

Hope that helps.

I'm confused as to your problem, perhaps you might want to try RTM instead. It is very possible that many of the new apps will not be available downlevel, or in all languages.

To prove they are there (on Win8 RTM), I find what you're looking for without issue:

When I click on the calculator app it opens the calendar!

There was a huge increase in the number of apps when I switched from Release Preview to RTM. In my case, I'm running the 90 day eval version of RTM, which is still free, though I will have to reinstall the retail version of RTM come October 26th.

I think switching to RTM will increase the number of apps you see in the Windows Store.

Edit: oops I see cluberti already answered this...

Well with win8 being released in a few weeks, I think I will just wait until then and go the upgrade path, thanks for the reply
