Last summer, when office 2013 preview first came out, I opted for the binary download. I believe it was an exe file and I still have a copy of the download.
But yesterday I opened up OneNote, I got prompted for an activation key. The only thing that I think might have triggered that, was that I did a PC refresh from an image on Windows 8 on my slate recently, when I couldn't download from the Windows Store anymore. This was the first time I tried to open Office 2013 since the PC refresh.
So I don't know if the activation request was triggered by the refresh or if it was going to occur anyway.
Has anyone had a problem with activation requests? I was prompted to try Office 365, but would rather stick with a regular installation.
