Office15 has bugs in it, but also Win8 RP

Strange, when I try to copy some files to another folder and I get the message "do you want to replace the existing files" I say no to save some time.

Then MS stops with the copy of the other files. So now I have to say Yes in order to have everything copied......

Most guys here think that Outlook 2013 is compatible with Outlook XX, not so. I have created a contact folder in Outlook 2013, when I copy the .pst file to another computer running Office 2007, that folder does not show up......

    Jeffrys,
Yeah, the .pst folders are strange beasts. Usually when you add a .pst to the default outlook folder, nothing happens. You need to go to File-Open and export and select the new Outlook .pst file which will open up a second set of folders under the files from the 1st set. DON'T USE the same name in the folder or you are screwed. Also you need to set up an account for the second .pst folder for it to actually get mail. Once you copy the information from the contacts, you can get rid of the newly added .pst by right clicking on the title bar and remove it from your list.
Copying probably has something to do with the files attributes and is probably working fine but is mystifying you..

    hi John,

I do not want the folder to get any mail, nor do I want to create another account.

    Do not need this.

All I want is the extra contact folder I created to be used on my other computers.

It is nice to use the basic contact folder, that works, but if I you create a bla-bla folder with new contacts, export it to Vista with Outlook 2007...then forget it. I do not use the same names.

So is Office 2013 compatible with previous versions......NO

    Jeff,
I did an upgrade from Outlook 2010 to Outlook 2013 without any issues at all in compatibility. It used my previous .pst folder and all my contacts are there. I THINK you are saying that Outlook 2013 contact list CSV import is not compatible with an Outlook 2007 contact CSV export folder. Correct?
My, my. This sent me down the rabbit hole Goggling this. I learned a lot about Outlook 2013 that I had not known before! Meantime...
The import screen on Outlook 2013 looks exactly the same as it did in the previous versions of Outlook. I donno why it won't read your exported CSV folder, the data looks exactly like it used to in Excel...

    Sorry,

    This concerns Outlook 15.

When I tried to install a New Pop Account, I accidentally ticked the " Microsoft Exchange or Compatible Service"

Instead of the "POP or Imam" Box.

The Programme started to Ask me repeatedly Which Exchange.

I could Not at any cost, get rid of this.

I had to uninstall and re-Install the complete Office 2013, not just changing Outlook.

To be able to pursue my installation of a New Email Account.

Been there done that. I managed to get back to the original questions by (I think) deleting the outlook .pst file that I created when I tried to create an account the wrong way. There is a workaround as I did it on Office 2010 but you would have had to Google it to get your answer.
It seems that most of these "bugs" are really new procedures that are non intuitive on how they work. If I find a good site for Office 2013 tutorials, I will link it. We all need the help!

Jeff, Since the official way to move data around in ANY version of Outlook is by exporting either a .CSV file or a .pst file, then the backup method that you are using and what you are complaining about being non compatible is probably just that, non compatible. Does NOT sound like a bug in Office 2013 (2010, 2007, 2003 whatever) tho, just your methods. My last post over this. Good luck.

    no John,

I export my .pst files already for years and this is the first time I encounter this.

It is a bug, simple as that. I do not use a back-up to move .pst files.

    Please.....

ok, since I like to continue for improvements.

Since I have over 100 folders in my Outlook and since new messages only show in the main folder (the one that you can see), but not in the subfolders (there you see them when the subfolder is visuable).

Maybe a hint for MS. If only the main folder is open, any main folder, and there are let's say 5-10 subfolders then it would be nice if it showed not only in the subfolder that there are new messages, but also in the main folder.

Then one would know that he has to look in the subfolders to see the messages.

    Just a thought
