Like most people I wanted the old-fashioned Start button back.
So, upon searching I found Start8 which I installed. I might have messed around after installing Start8, a few buttons appear in my taskbar. ( see screenshot.)
Start8 is not what I wanted. I uninstalled it and installed ViStart which I am now using.

Problem, I cannot find a way to remove those buttons in the taskbar. Right click does noting.

Help please.

Right click on the start (orb) button should give you some options.

I don't use viStart right now, but when I did (I didn't had any buttons in taskbar), I saw some options.

Also if you click start and right of shut down button there are some extra options besides sleep and restart. Look there if nothing else works.

PS: you can also try Classic Shell which has some extra options and no buttons in taskbar by default.
Welcome to Classic Shell

Good luck

No. The list under Options you mentioned has no effect to the buttons on taskbar.
Cannot post the screenshot. The damn Insert Image application does not always work. Now, it is missing the box and the Browse button under "From Computer ".
I'll try screenshots again later.... when the damn thing is ready to work.

Good you have found it. That may help others too.

May I ask something regarding the other problem:
About the insert image: what browser are you using?

- I had a similar problem under Debian, with Google Chrome: the whole layout options menu was missing.
So this:
menu.png
was always missing in Chromium/Chrome but was there in Firefox.

Under Windows, there are no such problems and this site should work with all good latest browsers.

I have no problems in: ie9, ie10, chromium 19, waterfox/firefox 13.
It can also be a browser plugin problem or javascript?

You should see if javascript is enabled for this site.
