Backup program recommendation

Hello, I recently realized the importance of backup (the hard way) and I want to use a backup program. What I want to backup is game saves (Minecraft). The game makes individual folders for saves, and inside game datas are inside. The thing is that the game data is not in a single file. I want the program to zip the folder and transfer to other folder (Google Drive) if at least one of the file in the folder changed. Also, if the folder is added, automatically do the same. What is a program that best implements this?

Jryoo:

You might have to automate this yourself, as I'm unaware of any single program that does exactly what you want. You can launch Task Scheduler in Win 8 by typing Windows key-R (Run command) then entering "taskschd.msc /s" into the scheduler interface. Or you might want to look at a tool such as System Scheduler if you want more advanced capabilities. Then you can use such a tool along with the built-in backup tool, or with something like Acronic True Image Home (my personal choice) instead.

Hi there
if your game can be played inside a VM then it's EASY -- just take a snapshot of the VM.

However I understand a lot of games need real access to the video GPU hardware etc so they probably wont work inside a VM.

A system image of the point at which you need to save your data would probably work -- say something like Acronis -- just back up the disk image at point "X" in your game.

The data that's held off site say on a remote server would probably be a mega problem as you usually wouldn't be able to image that data.

So my feeling is that IF the game can run inside a VM use the vm software to take a snapshot of the VM at the point you need to save your Game data.

Cheers

You can set something like this with handy backup, although you'll have to schedule the time when it checks for the folder update. Aside from not working dynamically upon changes in the folder, it does everything else.
