Excise Google Updater after use Hangouts?

I don't know how Google's Updater got installed from using Hangouts but I hope I can delete it w/o hampering Hangouts. I had a heck of a time deleting the updater years ago when I was using something else, probably Chrome.

If it doesn't run constantly and use up ram I wouldn't care as much, except I figure anything from Google, especially something that get installed w/o my permission, is spyware or junk. Anyone know if I can just delete it Programs? I'm ok w/running Hangouts w/o updates.

try opening Task Scheduler..

and search for googleupdates.. and disable or manually stop them..

Thanks brooksndunn, I turned it off under Processes tab and haven't seen it since but will use the long way if necessary.
