    What it does is check and repair system files(SFC), and the DISM portion fixes component store corruption, These 2 tutorials will explain a bit to give you a better Idea of what they do.

    And fsutil resource at the beginning resets the resource manager.

    The commands are chained together in the order they need to be don,e to work more efficiently, to clean and repair or replace system(Windows files), repair Windows Update, and repair and reset Windows Store.

    You need to be connected to the internet when doing this, so Windows can connect to Microsoft's servers, to check and compare the files and download replacements if needed.

    You need to reboot because files in use by the OS cannot be repaired.

    Thank you Cliff, that was a big help.

    So I won't lose any of my installed programs or delete anything I need, right? Sorry to seem negative Cliff but I've spent weeks since getting this computer in July with nothing but problems. It all got worse when I went to Windows 10 and then it all started. Like taking 2.2 minutes to cold boot and 3.5 minutes to reboot.

    Thanks again Cliff,

    Bud

    Hi Cliff;

    I wanted to run that batch of text you gave me this morning and I've looked everywhere on here for it but I cannot find it anywhere. Could you give it to me again please? I'm so sorry to bother you again.

    Sorry Cliuff, found it.

    Ok, when I see that black area, I paste this text in and reboot? Is that what you're saying? After pasting it in, do I hit ENTER or anything firt before I reboot? or Do I paste it in and reboot? Sorry, but I'm really confused here.

    fsutil resource setautoreset true c:\&fsutil usn deletejournal /d /n c:&Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup&&sfc /scannow&Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth&sfc /scannow&Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase&pause

    It can take a long time depending on your hardware(HDD or SSD) and look like it has stalled, but just be patient an let it run through.

    Past it in an Admin command prompt and let it run through first.
    I can take a while, and look like it's frozen(not doing anything) but be rest assured it is.
    After it's finished, reboot.

    It's no bother. It's always good to clarify, before taking action(something I learned in the military).

    Many thanks Cliff.

    Just one question.

    I'm going to run this after dinner this evening and was wondering about how long it will take it to run through once. Just an estimate would be fine, thank you.
