Solved Is there a blu ray burner software?

I want to find a software that burns on a blu ray. I have a blu ray player on my computer, but I don't know nor never heard of a blu ray burner. Does one exist and where?

First you need a Blu-ray drive that is capable of burning (some only read Blu-rays). Usually the "door" on the optical drive will list what it can do.
If your drive does burn Blu-rays, you can use the free Image Burn software The Official ImgBurn Website .

The software you use depends on what you want to do (such as copy files to BD for backup, or burn a copy of BD movie, etc.).

Note that if you purchase a blue-ray Burner for your PC, they typically come bundled with burning software of some sort, often a version of Nero burning software.

On the "door", it says "BD-ROM/DVD Rewriter". Don't know if I have what I need.

The project I have that I need this for is to burn on a disc movies/video files, "creating" a blu ray (or DVD if push comes to shove).

If you can find out the model number, you could Google that to find out its specifications -- but the last time I bought a BD-ROM/DVD Rewriter, I had to carefully check the specs on the box to see what it could do -- and I discovered the speed ratings on the box were only for Blue-Ray reading, not writing. I suspect yours might have the same limitations.

Any time you see the letters ROM on a drive it means that function is Read Only Memory. There are BD/Blue-Ray burners available, just have to shop around. I have seen prices of around $60US, been tempted to get one. There's both Internal SATA and External USB drives available.

One more thought, many late-model CD/DVD burners are marked with D/L on the face of the tray and can use the DVD+R/DL [for Dual Layer] discs. A standard DVD holds between 4 and 4.5GB and a D/L holds about 8GB. Sharing the disc may depend upon the capability of the recipient's hardware.
