I had to scan a letter and send it to WordPad because it needed some small changes. but now that it's there, it will not let me make any chances ta it. some parts need to be deleted, while some new parts need to be added. any way to fix that?
thanks

You scanned an image? It's likely a PDF or picture format. It's unlikely that it's an actual word document. The image may be in wordpad but it's not text. If you can scan a document and it's not a picture format let me know. I am very interested .

Your scanner may have come with OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software. The OCR software can read an image and convert it to text. In my personal use of OCR software, it has done a reasonable job but usually not 100%, almost always requires some manual editing.

In case your scanner didn't include OCR software, here's a link to free OCR software you can download: Free OCR Software - Optical Character Recognition and Scanning Software for Windows - import from PDF and Twain Scanners. I've never used this software so can't comment as to how good it is.

I think it might be something in the PC. here is one of several pages that came from what was just less that 1 page of text.

sorry about that, but this thing will not put up 1 simple page. otherwise I could show you why I think it's more the PC. but thanks for the heads up on the OCR software. I've sent an email to EPSON and ask about the software in their XP-820 machines.

When you scanned the letter, it created an image, a picture of the letter. You need to convert that image to text so that a word processor or editor can read it. I doubt there is a problem with your PC.

ok, if it came through, this is what happened when I scanned a single page letter and saved it in documents to be edited the following morning.

not OCR software, checked with EPSON, so i'm ok there. thanks for the information though, as it was something I never heard of and gave a chance to learn something new about these things.
