I am asking for help concerning the freeing up of HDD space without compromising the function and viability of my operating system (Windows 8.1 x64) specifically whether or not I can uninstall the following:

Microsoft visual C++ 2005 redistributable
Microsoft visual C++ 2008 redistributable (x86) 9.0.3079.4148
Microsoft visual C++ 2008 redistributable (x86) 30.729.6161
Microsoft visual C++ 2010 redistributable (x64) 10.0.40219
Microsoft visual C++ 2010 (x86) redistributable 10.0.40219
Visual Studio 2005 tools for Office runtime
Visual Studio Tools for the Office system 3.0 runtime.

I have no programming experience whatsoever, but have been told that at least one of the above may be needed for internet activity. As mentioned I am trying to create much needed storage space and would welcome any advice.

You would do well by leaving all of those alone. They are used by applications you have installed. It is possible that one or more are not needed but making this determination is not a simple thing.

It makes it easier to decide when the advisor is listed as a Professional user. Thankyou.
