Windows photo viewer can't open this picture

    This is the error message:

Windows Photo Viewer can't open this picture because either Photo Viewer doesn't support this file format, or you don't have the latest updates to Photo Viewer

Anywhere location of the file when opening jpeg.

Please help, this is a new laptop Windows 8.1 Single Language.

It seems possible the file maybe corrupt or something is incompatible with this file. Is this file taken from a camera ? Did you try to open it with the start menu app instead called Photos does it work there ? Any other photo programs you use ? Right click this file then select open with and select Photos one instead. Are all jpeg's the same or just this one ?

Check file association within control panel under default programs then select default programs go to Windows photo viewer make sure jpeg is selected as default program for.

    Hi,

I'm pretty sure it's not corrupted since it can be opened in picture manager. The pictures are showing in thumbnails also but when you double click it's not opening. It can be opened using picture manager but not in windows photo viewer. I think this issue is also occurring to some since I also searching for answers.

    Regards
