    Macrium Reflect

When I was trying to install Macrium Reflect, my antivirus canceled the install and counted it as a threat.

    Does anyone know why?

I downloaded it from CNET, and my antivirus is Norton Internet Security Online which is provided by my ISP.

I do not trust any downloads from Cnet, download from Major Geeks instead and then custom install to avoid installing any crap.
Download Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - MajorGeeks

If still having problems, probably a false positive from Norton, temporarily disable Norton then install and check for alerts when using Macrium.

I share the concern about CNET. Their downloads are riddled with malware. My advice is always download apps where possible from the home base of the application--for example, Macrium Software located HERE.

There is no concerns downloading Macrium Reflect from CNET. The download is initially a sort of small download selector from Macrium. You can then select various downloads for the Free version, 64 bit, 32 bit, WinPE components etc.

Whilst the free version of Macrium Reflect does a good job at doing an Image. The Rescue Boot discs/USB keys are hard to get to work, both versions, the Win PE and the Linux based ones. You have to test them. In my case neither worked at first, and only after many tries adding drivers, got the Win PE one working. The Linux based one still is not working.

Well, I downloaded it from a different site and Norton still looked at it as a threat.

When installing Macrium Free and clicking on 'download options' I can choose to download just the installer, or the installer and PE components. What are the 'PE components' and do I need them? I don't want to install anything I don't really need.
