    Just read up about Backup, Restore and how to create a Rescue Disk (using CD or USB).
    It does not matter what Version as long as it's 5.X.XXXX. All procedures will be the same.
    For basic Backup/Restore. Free Version is adequate. Some Features will not be available with free version and will be noted as info in the user manual under each title as shown below:

    Here's a short video on how to backup. I made it using Windows 10 but it is the same for previous versions of Windows including Windows 8. The procedure is exactly the same.

When installing Macrium Free and clicking on 'download options' I can choose to download just the installer, or the installer and PE components. What are the 'PE components' and do I need them? I don't want to install anything I don't really need.
which of the backup do you prefer in your opinions? usually i want to use it when if i installed something and turns out i want to uninstall it and just go with restore so that nothing left behind.
