My events that I put on my Windows 8 calendar app from Dec 2014 and earlier are gone. Any ideas how to recover them?
Thanks

Do they still exist if you look via your web browser on outlook.com?

As far as I know the calendar app (win 8 desktop and phone) only show so many months worth and ignore early entries
Mine are also missing for last year if I look in the calendar, but on outlook.com it shows them all

Thanks Paul, I see them in outlook.com which I don't use. Certainly a relief that the events are not lost!! Is there any way to retain them indefinitely in the app? Thanks again for your help.

Hi,
As far as I know there is no way to keep them permanently in the app (I think they want to stop it using too much storage after years of use, so older entries are ignored), its the same thing on a windows phone, older events are not shown
Not seen any details about this, but Win 10 is due out later in the year, with a new version of the calendar, so it might support this

Sorry I couldn't be of more help

This thread gave me an idea. That Microsoft include a search function with the app that could access your online calendar to call up an event in a specific time frame(if you're not sure when it was) like "Dinner party April 2013" or "Car inspection may 2014".

That would be a nice addition to be able to search and see all past events, or have it show all past events if connected to internet, just display them instead of caching
Only downside is it might cause confusion if people can see all items when online, then wonder why they don't show if offline

For me I usually use the calendar to add events or see what's coming up in the next week, if I want anything else I just use outlook.com (but would be nice for it to be all viewable in the app)

Kind of like me. I use it only for special events or the German Holidays(after living here 25 years I still don't know when they all are(there's just so many)), for day to day use like trash pick-up or vacation, I use my "analog calendar, the one hanging on my wall:).
