Well, not to use it obviously.
Using it for years, love it. Simply can't go deleting things willy-nilly though.

Jesse if you would like some settings recommendations for Ccleaner, here are mine. I only run it once every few day's or if I need to reset RegEdit and MMC(Microsoft Management Console). Windows has a set size for certain caches and will just over write them if need be. I leave search unticked so the next time I need the same file or Item it's faster(also in Windows 10 Cortana needs it to learn about what you need, like will want). One other thing make sure you go to Options>Cookies to save the all the ones for site you're signed into and anything Microsoft(c.live.com, c1.microsoft.com..etc.), and also any URL's for the software updaters(for example JAVA, Piriform, MyWOT, etc..)

I have had CCleaner in my pc for many years. I do not use it often but its there in case. I was careful installing it, unticking anything that was ticked and telling it wehee I wanted it, not where it wanted to be. AVG or Malwarebytes Prem spotted 'something' and removed it. And, so far, zero problems. CCleaner has been with pc's since they were invented.

I agree with adamf, I have Ccleaner installed on My PC, only run it a few times every 2 or 3 months. I find it works great.
I also have it so it does not run in the background at all. How I keep most of my programs, I only have them run when I tell them to.

No problem. I hope it works for you too. The hardest part to get used to is, not cleaning before shutting down every time(it took me MONTHS).

Also what LegacyofWax said is a good thing to follow too.

CCleaner is o.k., i find does not remove all it says anyway, need to go back say to my browser and clear it there too.

Recall this one being decent https://www.slimwareutilities.com/slimcleaner.php

Guess if know where to go to delete these files, then do not need any, but most do not want to have to do it this way.

Really? I actually turn off PC with CCleaner, to prevent malware infection by cleaning cache, temp, such.
But to be honest, sometimes I receive BSOD due to power failure immediately after startup. I wonder.
