Hi fellas....
I've no experience of Tablets. However, girlfriend just bought a Linx 10" Tablet running full Windows 8, an OS I have to admit I'm not too keen on. Good range of connection points including USB.
Tablet came with a 'free' year's subscription of a FULL version of MS Office 365.
When I checked the renewal cost for the next year it proved greater than the cost if you bought 365 outright now! Not far short of buying a new tablet in fact!! So much for 'free'.
Anyway, I urged her not to activate the 'free' 365 until I'd checked here.

Now, I have a genuine MS Office 2007 which I've used for ages.
I wondered if I could simply load this up to the tablet via external DVD-Rewriter to see if it would fly.
So, anyone tried that with a Windows 8 tablet? I don't want to screw up her warranty if it doesn't.

Many thanks

Assuming it isn't an RT version of Windows, you can install anything you want. However, the bigger question is, do you really need/want Office on an 8" screen?

Thanks to you both for taking time to reply

The Linx has a 10 inch display, not 8, and is NOT RT, so Office might look OK and make renewal unnecessary.

As for 365, my point was I don't feel renewal cost is merited given that in a year's time, it'll be even cheaper to buy a new tablet.

So, again, anyone actually tried Office on a Windows tablet?

Many thanks

I don't know where I got the 8 from. I have a Surface pro 3 as my work laptop/tablet. It has an 11.6" screen, I believe, so it is close to what her tablet has. I run Office 2013 (as part of my 365 subscription) on it without any issues at all. I do have the Type keyboard to go with it, so I'd recommend some kind of keyboard, even a USB one. For me, it's great having my full Outlook app with me in the form of a light, portable tablet.
