Office programs not in deault program list

Running Win 8.1. Recently installed Office 365 with several errors that MS support helped me with. Now I find that none of the Office programs are on the default program list although I was able to associated most them with extensions. I was able to restore the url:mailto extension with the help of this forum, but I can associate Outllok to it because it won't come up in the list when asked to pick a program. Is there any way I can get my Office programs back on the list or registered in the registry to correct this?

I had a corrupt registry which caused this problem and, as I learned, others. Restoring a Macrium image to a previous date corrected this problem, which brought up another. Separate posting.

Hi I have been having an issue with my self built system, not sure if it is hard drive, virus or software conflict. 1- A month ago I started experiencing slow start up and afterwards there would be system hangs and the HDD light would be on for a while before system response. 2- Last week...
I don't know if this list exists or not. Thanks
I found a way to get my list of programs on to the tool/task bar. From there I dragged one of the programs to the desktop thinking it would just create a shortcut. It didn't. It took the program off the dropdown list and put it on the desktop. I can't find a way to put it back in the drop down...
Is there a better than decent way to get to the program list in windows 8, similar to the one we used to have on the start menu, without installing 3rd party applications?
