Hi All,

Sorry not a computer geek and only understand basics and all I know is my poor PC is having problems which even Microsoft can't fix without me paying them an arm and a leg so here goes with the first part. Nothing will download firstly from the store, then I have had various problems with other downloads not working and the link to find the problem and sort it (that I found somewhere - reset windows store) just gives me the following. Is there any way of fixing this without me doing a complete back to factory settings on my Lenovo (restore point seems to have vanished too and the only one showing is too recent to sort out the non-working apps). I have also lost a number of applications like my calendar that is connected to my phone, laptop etc but on this PC it has just gone and when I go into it the application just minimises and won't open but when you hover over it there is only a black screen. If I can get these two things sorted I will be a happy bunny. Sorry if I can't put it more computerised language but best I can manage.

Have you tried doing a windows recovery "Refresh your PC" (not reset)

that option will usually fix OS issues without effecting your files

I would start with some general file diagnostics.

Run this with an Adm. Command Prompt - Sfc /scannow

This could take a while so be patient. It will either finish without corruptions, fixed all problems or fixed some problems but not all.

If all problems are not fixed run - Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

This command will attempt to fix problems with the component store. If this finishes with all corruptions fixed then run - Sfc /scannow again.

Also, you can view this tutorial.

It states that everything is fixed but is just sitting there pending. Here are screen shots that I took after each process - in case it helps.

I would cancel the install and try running the App Troubleshooter again.

Can you get into other aspects of the Store, like reviewing your Account info?

Can you install any other app or just the Tool App?

When you first noticed this problem starting, does it coincide with anything else like recent updates, the installation of a new program, or any other event that you remember?

The fact that SFC (System File Checker) cleaned some things up is a good thing.

Also, There are some pretty good suggestions in this piece you might see if any fit your scenario.

Thank you Gator2013, I will try those later today.

Slartybart - I did what you said but for the life of me cannot find a log as I did search My PC also looked in performance logs (not sure if this is the right place) but nothing in there either so I was unable to copy and paste any log. There is obviously something corrupt/wrong but now wondering if I should just save what I need and go back to the beginning on my Lenovo Ideacentre :(

In File Explorer, navigate to
C:\Windows\Logs\CBS
Ooops, forgot that minor piece of information

Then...
Please copy the CBS.log to your desktop and attach the copied file to a new post.

I put it all back to factory settings and reloaded the whole lot again. You didn't forget that Slartybart but it just was not on my PC as I did a whole search and nothing could be found, thanks for trying everyone.

Restore to factory or a clean install always works ;)

Glad the issue is resolved and thanks for marking your thread solved.
