I got an email from Macrium that the release of Reflect 6 is imminent. Does anyone have an inside scoop on the expected features of the various editions? They are offering a 40% discount off the upgrade to v. 5 which will then be able to upgrade free to 6. But I don't know if I want to buy it without knowing what v 6 Standard will do.

If my math is correct this should bring a v 4.2 Standard upgrade to $19.80 instead of $33.

It could have been because I sent an email to sales about upgrading from 4.2 to 5.3. They replied on that issue. Then a bit later I got the upgrade offer coupon thingy. Maybe my email address was at the top of the stack. :)

All it said about M6 was it will be released "in the next few weeks." But the coupon code was in the email with a link to the 5.3 upgrade. Perhaps if you send a query to sales from the support page asking about the coupon they will reply with it. I got a very prompt reply to my question. An automated ack first, then a reply to my question a short time later.

On Twitter they give an upgrade code:
https://twitter.com/macriumreflect

NWJ-JAT-SJX

You have to upgrade from 4.2 to 5.3. The code is supposed to give an additional 40% off. Later you get a free upgrade to 6.x.

Note that it's not the same code I got in the email. But it seems to be posted by Macrium. I don't do Twitter. I just found it by Google.

I've had my Macrium longer than the date they wrote about.
I hope I get a free upgrade too. :)

I think I'll hide under the bed for a while. :(

I think I'll hide under the bed for a while.

Heh. I didn't post the one they gave me. Just what I saw on Twitter. I don't know how easy it is to spoof identity there. But I don't know why they wouldn't publish a discount code if they are trying to sell upgrades.

I guess the only way to know is to try to upgrade with the Twitter code. But why would I do that when I have the valid one in the email anyway? :)

btw hiding under waterbeds can be risky. :)

I got a response from Macrium with a link to the new Macrium Reflect 6 Server Edition. They were kind enough to also provide a license key for me. I am not allowed to share the key but the download link will run as a 30 day trial without it. Note that it downloads the WinPE 5.0 bringing the download size to about 460 MB.

Macrium Reflect Standard Server Edition NFR Trial Link

The link is to an exe(the downloader) but there's no way to go to the page as it's not accessible to the public yet.

I haven't used the Server Edition before. Aside from scheduling and incremental/differential options the most interesting feature is a Delta algorithm that is supposed to speed up the restore process. I did a backup but until I have a guinea pig machine I'm not going to restore just to test it. :) The backup went as expected. The backup image is about 50% the size of my C: partition.

I assume by telling me not to share the license key they were implicitly giving the OK to share the download link as it does have a 30 day trial option.

I did have one glitch during install. It hung for 20 minutes on "removing shortcuts" during the upgrade. I just rebooted and ran the installer again to finish up. As far as I can tell everything works normally.
