I'm just curious if you can uninstall hp support assistant or if that wouldn't be a smart thing to do?

Hi there again. Cleaning up a new laptop I see. :)

What I would consider is 1) if it voids the warrantee (if any) 2) getting hardware updates automatically.

It will not void anything if you remove it. If you ever want to use it, download from your model page at hp.com.

Useless piece of software that is problematic on some systems for some reason running Windows 8/8.1, often it will quit or not work and you have to try to reinstall it if you can. I have seen some cases when it has bricked the system doing a BIOS update for example.

I'm just not sure I need it or even want it anymore, if I do keep it I'm not updating anything with it. There has been 2 different times now that it has said I had a couple wireless driver updates or something like that and each time I've updated them my internet would get extremely slow. I had to do a factory restore on my laptop both times to fix the problem because the system restore point that it makes before installing the updates has ended up breaking windows when I've used it.

You don't need any of the HP stuff if you don't use it. I've had two of them and immediately removed their stuff. If you ever need a driver just go direct to the website.

The free Revo doesn't work on 64 bit programs. Have you tried typing in "Uninstall" in Search to take you to Programs and Features > Uninstall a Program?

I have the pro version of revo, it's a trial, but still. I uninstalled it by going to "uninstall or change a program" then I restarted my computer. I then got the "your pc ran into a problem and needs to restart" message, it restarted and now my computer says my anti virus and spyware is off?

Not right now no. Why did I get the "your pc ran into a problem and needs to restart" message when I restarted after removing support assistant?
