Windows 8 Tiles open but don't appear on screen

I'm trying to click the Home Tile in the metro interface of Windows 8. The screen turns green like its opening Home but not I get back my metro interface. I click in the upper left hand corner and am able to see a small image of the open application Home but can't get to it. It shows as being open in task manager.

How do I get these tiles to appear so I can access them?
