Solved Adobe Reader X won't update/install

I did an in-place upgrade to Win 8 CP from Win 7 SP1; and all has by and large been fine.

Before, Adobe Reader X 10.1.2 worked fine, but it wouldn't update to the latest verson claiming the package was corrupt. I then, perhaps foolishly, uninstalled Adobe Reader X with a view to just installing 10.1.3. Unfortunately it won't. It says it can't read the AcroRead.msi setup file in c:\Programdata\Adobe\Setup\(long string) and to verify that the file is there (which it is).

Anyone else run into anything similar?

Cheers!

Simple.

Copy the .msi to another folder then run it from there.

Yep! Doing the above moved things along, until I got an error about administrator privilages in "C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0\Replicate\Security" at which point I used "take ownership", pressed retry, and it's completed.

Thanks! :D
