I recently installed Microsoft Office 2013 and, out of curiousity, clicked on Lync. I'd never heard of it so I thought I'd try it to see what it was. It seems to be a new version of their older IM program, Microsoft Messenger. I have no interest in using this program at this time but my computer insists on launching Lync for me on every reboot.
How do I coax Windows (8.1) to NOT launch Lync automatically? I realize that uninstalling it would probably accomplish what I want but I'd rather not do that. I might find that I want to use it somewhere down the road. In the meantime, I'd simply like it to be on the computer so that I can start it via the Start menu if I really want to use it but I don't want it starting automatically on every reboot since that just uses resources that I'd rather leave available for programs that I'm actually using.
I realize I can use Task Manager to kill the Lync process manually after the reboot but I'd rather keep it from starting in the first place. How do I do that in Windows 8.1?
