4. Those are Xbox games you're trying to open. I'll check it out, but I'm pretty sure one needs an Xbox account to play Xbox games whether it be on any device. Xbox console, desktop PC, pad, or phone.

6. There should have been a GamerTag such as PLAYER1234567 (player-random number) generated for you if you don’t have an Xbox account. Perhaps this got corrupted. That's all I can think of at this point.

The closest thing I could find concerning this: Change the Microsoft account associated with your gamertag

tried going to your link several times find it confusing. now my general login for windows is an email and password, I preume i do not change this. w8 allocatred me an apps user name which he logged me into each time, but cannot workout from the link how i change this name, may be easy but i'm not seeing it and need a little help.
last resort next week or two will be a factory reset of the laptop but not too keen on that as its hours of updating etc.

Another remote possibility is that MS may have changed the agreement that one may have to have an Xbox account to play the games, therefore now blocking them without one, but I can't find that anywhere either. Just a thought.
