    Java?

Is Java needed in Windows 8 and 8.1? It said it will only work on desktop mode on 8 and 8.1. Is it needed?

Personally I don't have it installed at all. With Java and any other add-on they aren’t necessary until you need to view a website that needs them and will alert you if you want to install it and I just simply answer no.

Some websites and applications require Java, most do not. Java is a well known security risk so unless you have a known need for it you are probably best off not installing it.

I uninstalled Java a long time ago and do not miss it.

Edit: Windows 8 does not come with Java and most users never install it.

Solved Java 8, 32 and 64 bit in General Support
I use both 32 and 64 bit browsers so I had Java in both versions up to v7. Now I installed Java 8, 64 bit, then tried to install the 32 bit version. The installer, however, halted for I 'already had it'. Does it mean that from v8 the 64 bit Java can also be used by the 32 bit browsers?
