Best Software To Clone A HDD With Same Drive Letter?

I have a 3tb data hard drive(F: drive letter) that is almost full, I want to replace it with a 4tb hard drive. What would be the best - simplest software to clone a drive?

I also don't understand, would I have to format the new drive with a drive letter then change that drive letter to the same as the 3tb drive after the cloning procedure?

While there are other tools, I've had success using Macrium Reflect to clone disks and partitions. You won't be able to assign the new drive the same drive letter as that is already in use, but once you disconnect the old drive, you can easily go in and manually change the drive letter of the new drive, if it doesn't reset to F: when you restart without the old drive connected.

Thanks I'll take a look at Macrium Reflect.

From my own knowledge and experience, I can also recommend the open-source software CloneZilla, which runs in an environment you can run outside of your OS. It is capable of running a bit-for-bit copy from one drive to another.

For copying data from a 3TB drive to a 4TB drive, you will need to extend your copied partition to match the new drive, if you plan to use the partition to fill the drive, or you can use the extra 1TB of space for other purposes, but like using Macrium Reflect, once you disconnect the old drive, you can use Windows to assign the same drive letter for the new drive.

I have personally used CloneZilla, and it has actually saved data for customers of mine in situations where data might otherwise be unrecoverable. CloneZilla is just one more option out of dozens out there.

Agree with Mark Phelps, you'd better not to name the new drive with the letter of old drive in using. I use EaseUS Todo Backup for years, and it successfully clones everything from my old hard disk to the new one. It is one of top cloning software.
