Solved Help needed please

I have bought a Samsung S5 phone and then got Kaspersky Android security to put on it.

Now I downloaded the program and saved it and then tried copy / paste and Send to the phone and the card. However nothing shows up on the phone but it does in This PC.

Ok so you might think but when I try to open it from either transferred files it pops up a message as in my pics. Can someone please put me out of my misery because this 8 is about to be torn limb from limb off this laptop. Am so fed up with this sort of thing happening I so wished I stayed with 7

Something that should be simple has turned out to be convolution nightmare :cry:

It had been absolutely the same which operating system you had on your PC, it had not worked in any case. You have done it wrong, it is your fault, it's no use to blame Windows 8 when you don't know how to do something with your Samsung Phone. Apples and oranges.

Although a Windows site, let's see if we can get the Kaspersky installed on your phone. Of course the easiest way is to go to Google Play Store on your phone (not the PC!) and let your phone automatize the installation. It's done like this:

1) Open Google Play (on phone!!!), search for Kaspersky

2) Select Kaspersky Internet Security:

3) Tap Kaspersky:

4) Tap Install:

5) Tap Accept:

That's it. Kaspersky will now be installed on your phone.

If you insist downloading it to PC and then copying the installer over to phone, do not copy it to the root folder of your Samsung device. I do not know Android phones, only having a Samsung tablet, but in your case I would search for a Download folder on phone and put it there, then using the phone file manager find the installer and install. In my tablet the Download folder is at root of the device, it might even work to create the folder in Windows Explorer. I repeat: I am not sure of this, I do not know Android Phones.

Last: Again, it's bloody same if you had Windows 3.11 for Workgroups, you cannot launch an installer on phone by launching it from Windows Explorer and hoping that right click let's you do that. Absolutely the same which OS you have, that's a no go.

User errors, not caused by Windows 8.

In addition, why are you installing an AV program on your phone? Even if you unlocked the bootloader and rooted it (the former I don't believe is possible on the S5 unless you buy an off-contract developer model) you still would be unlikely to need an AV program for your phone unless you have a habit of just downloading APK installers from random websites and installing them. AV programs on any cell phone platform are a solution in desperate search of a problem and all they're designed to do is try and upsell you to the desktop version. They have absolutely zero utility as far as your phone is concerned. In fact, wasn't it Microsoft that booted these programs from it's Windows Phone stores a while back precisely because they were using deceptive advertising methods to convince people of their value?

Anyway, just to supplement Kari's instructions, if you copy the APK to your phone then you need to first go into the security section of the settings and enable the ability to install programs from untrusted sources. Then you need to use something like the Samsung "My Files" or ES Explorer (on your phone) to make your way to wherever you stored the APK you want to install and then tap on it to start the install process.

If you take nothing else away from this: Android programs will NOT run on Windows and Windows programs will NOT run on Android. APK files for Android must be installed FROM WITHIN ANDROID.

Well I seem to have stirred the hornets nest here haven't I? I first saw on the Kaspersky site to download and me not being perhaps the sharpest knife in the drawer thought it would save me a bit of download on the phone by doing it through the laptop. So I shall do it via the phone and if I has found this Kaspersky Internet Security for Android | Android Antivirus Software | Kaspersky Lab maybe the penny might have dropped.
The fact I want it is because of a lot of editorials just lately re security on these devices and the fact I use Kaspersky on all my machines without any really problems for the last five years and I especially like the safe money feature. It also made sense to me that if I am going to Google any site I normally use I should need some extra peace of mind.
But there again like I said I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

I must apologise to you both for taking up your time and thank you for the replies and effort. It still doesn't change my views on Windows 8 though as this sort of thing happens with other things I have wanted to have a look at and have been referred to what app do I want to open it with.
In future I shall have to research it a little better.

Absolutely no need to apologize. My reply might seem a bit harsh, I admit it, but if you allow me to explain I have reacted about the same way always (regardless of which user I am replying) when I see a common user mistake taken as a fault in operating system.

As a Windows 8 and now since last week Windows 10 fan I feel I have to respond whenever I see a user error described as OS error.

Ok Kari as I said I should have researched a bit more but I tend to be a bit gung ho when I do stuff and the Kaspersky site was not that explicit.

As for the 8 well I run it in 7 style simply because I don't like the panel stuff and from the little bit the 10 looks as if it will retain those features, but again I have to research it a bit more.
I do find the 8 runs faster then the 7 used too unless it is figment of my imagination but that-is it's only saving grace.

To me the 7 was and still is the most user friendly version of Windows but perhaps the 10 could be better. However having said that I tend to be very cynical in my old age and have it in my mind that all new versions of Windows are to an extent another money making exercise even though they might add extra features and uses.

The annoying thing with the Kaspersky Android was it came free - I suppose if I knew more about what I could get (my first Android as such) with the phone I wouldn't have been such dumb arse - more haste - less speed as my late Mum used to say.

My 2¢---

Computer problems usually arise because the user screws up doing something.
Not the computers' problem.

With trial & error one will learn not to do stupid things.

It can be painful.

Backing up with Macrium will reduce headaches.

Don't delete/--- uninstall.

Shared dll's still exist.Run sfc /scannow & Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth regularly.

My computer runs good because I maintain it.

Minor bugs occasionally, but that is what BACKUP to a good system is all about.

I love my computer. It runs good.

I couldn't agree more David and like you I look after my five machines as best I can and much along the lines that you do. My problem was that the directions on the Kaspersky package were not helpful and this is the first time I have bought software like this. I have no idea on what one actually does and thought the download would be quicker done via the computer. Plus on opening the licence card pack I expected an activation code but found only a ten letter reference - again no instructions on what to do and I have looked everywhere on what to do with that. It is a worry because I also bought a licence ?key card for a three machine / two year licence for Kaspersky internet security for my other machines that are running out the licence and if they are the same I am in for some real "fun"
For the record I have Macrium set to back up every week and no I will not uninstall because I have the original install of 7 on the original drive that I can just slip in after taking the 8 OS drive out - I cloned the 7 and did the upgrade on the second drive as an insurance against having to go through a reinstall if things went south..
Like I said it was the speed that 8 brought to the machine that impressed me I just do not like the "Metro" stuff and tat annoying window asking me what app I wanted to open certain stuff I downloaded simply because I have no idea what "app" to use.
If what I originally said about 8 offended some like I seem to have don it was not aimed at others who like it more that I think Microsoft messed up on this OS much like that awful Vista and please don't think I ma comparing it with Vista - just making an analogy.

Personally, I prefer Avast Antivirus for mobile, also available from the playstore for free. It's easily configured, and doesn't seem to slow down my smartphone in the least bit, only a few seconds scanning new app installs, or updates. I can do a full scan of my phone in 6 minutes, and it has fulltime protection whether using 3g data or wireless internet.

Finally have got some satisfaction from Kaspersky and one has to contact them (a VERY VERY long process) and give them the ten letter set on the card and then they email the code to you entered it in and now it is fully operational.
Has not done anything to sing the praises of Kaspersky which I have been using for years.

I tested the scan and it did a full one in 7 minutes and I have Emsisoft also running real time which is very surprising as Kaspersky is very fussy in that area and no problems in either 3G or 4G areas.
