    A stupid question :(

This question can be applied to any version of Windows.

Is it possible to install Windows 10 {or any version} on a 64 GB USB drive & run it from there ?

To me, a drive is a drive.
If you can create a new partition {drive} & dual boot, why would that be different from a USB drive ?

It would be nice if it could be done.

David, I'm pretty sure the answer is yes. Just have to format and partition the USB drive correctly. There are tutorials for portable USB OS drives.

PS: Not stupid question. Questions with answers educate all of us.

    Hello David,
Under normal Installation, you can't install Windows on a Stick. However, with Windows 8 Enterprise, you can perform "Windows 8 To go" on a USB Stick.

Windows To Go - Create in Windows 8 Enterprise

Windows 8 To Go - Setup on a USB Flash Drive or USB Disk

Note that the later version of the USB sticks are listed as Basic Disk while the earlier version listed as Removable. Here's an example, I have 2 USB Sticks, they are both 16 GB Sandisk but one is treated as a regular Basic disk, See screen shot:
