i have recently bought a version office 365 home version for my computer which uses windows 8 home edition. after entering a product key for the office 365 home premium the program ran all right. i did all the Microsoft updates i could find and it tried to install them but then said failure install reverting to previous install. so after rebooting the computer a couple of times it just continued giving the same error message and then i did a pc refresh while . i then re-entered the product id as to reavtivate the windows office(as i assume it was noy activated since i coildnt find after searching the computer) after winch the programs said that it is settings things up and then it said it is streaming and now every time i open any of the Microsoft office programs it asks for a internet connection to reopen the program. i read that you must uninstall the office then reboot and then re install the program. i tried to uninstall but it didn't do anything - i don't know what to do now.
Why is there an install icon on the office/setup page to the right ? if the product key is entered and it is a new install what would you install if you clicked on it ?
What I don’t understand is why the very same install icon is still there even though the site shows that office is installed and activated ?
why does windows update give updates that reconfigures your pc to the point that it has to revert the changes ?
i read somewhere that windows update install their own drivers. why does windows update drivers that changes drivers on the pc ? how can i know that an update is a driver and simply not install it ?
is it in the name of the update ??
i have worked in internet shop and regularly did windows updates and never did it revert any update wa using xp the.
i have no computer training.
please help.
thank you
ps how important are windows updates anyway ?? do i really need them ??
You have possible firstly to de-activate your unsuccessfully Office-365-Install under your Account on the Office-365-Website and then download / start a new installation.
I bought / subscribed to mine online and I'm able to install it on 5 different devices for 12 bucks a month.
It installed and works without any issues on a 2600k-Windows-8-Desktop-PC, a 3770k-Windows-8.1-Pro-WMC-Update-1-x64-Desktop-PC and a Surface-3-Pro-i7-512GB-Windows-8.1-Pro-WMC-x64-Tablet-PC.
Windows-/Office-Updates are very important, but I would not use any Driver's via Windows-Update, if you have proper ones from the Manufacturer of your Hardware.
Driver-Updates via Windows-Update usually pop-up as optional Updates and have to be selected by you, otherwise they don't get installed, like every other optional Update.
The Activation-Status of your Office-365 should be shown in your Office-365-Account online on their Website.
the problem is that i had no idea what was wrong and if i went into the pc in safe mode i don't know if doing a display driver roll back would have solved the problem.
