The above header refers.

For more than a week now, the above situation have been occurring. I have "scoured" the web and tried a lot of "solutions" and none as at yet have normalized my situation.

I am suspecting that I might need a registry solution, since I cannot refresh my installation- I upgraded to win 8 from win 7 online.

Also, the Skype app crashes almost as soon as it finishes loading and returns to the start menu. But, there is a sign it is still running and whenever you click on it, it trips off again.

What do I do now?

MDi

ps. I have uninstalled and re-installed several times, ran the apps troubleshooters many times, checked that the time service is running, synchronized this and that, etc to no avail.

My Mail Live tile do not have the option to turn on/off live update but the Calendar and People tiles have it yet none is updating.

The Mail App Live Tile still not updating: An update

Hi.

I have gone through most of those steps before and the situation was not resolved. However, when I checked the Settings on my mail app, I discovered that the settings have been "messed" with and I might need a registry solution to normalize things.

Pls, see attached pictures.

Thanks.

PS. In the Mail App Settings, ONLY Manual option is available for email Download. While for Mail notifications, Show mail notification is on Never, even if Mail is one of the apps selected for the lock screen. Another thing, All the Apps selected for the lock screen, appear to be "grayed out".

Hi.

I have uninstalled and re-installed the mail app twice now. Yet no show. Is there a registry tweak since I cannot refresh the windows and no restore option was set prior to this issue.

Actually, since I upgraded from Win 7 to win 8 and eventually win 8.1 months ago, everything has been working fine until recently.

I ran sfc /scannow and it complained that it couldn't solve all the problems it detected. I have attached the logs file.

Thanks.

Since it has been running fine until recently, you could do a system restore using a restore point dated when it was running fine to hopefully fix it.

Hi.

This morning, my laptop crashed. I am unable to boot to windows. I keep getting a blue screen and Windows telling me an error has occured and it needs to collect some data before I restart. I cannot get past this point.

Now, I don't have a repair disk. So, I try to download one and lo and behold, my serial keys that I purchase just in February 2014 when I upgraded from win 7 to 8.0 and subsequently 8.1 is not being accepted.

So, what next?

I have run chkdsk /r and there are no errors. The actual message has to do with "Inaccessible Boot Device."

The error goes like this:

"Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart. We're just collecting some error info, and then you can restart. (0% complete)

if you'd like to know more, you can search online for this error: Innacessible Boot Device"

Sounds like your hard drive may have died on you.

You could check your hard drive at boot using a drive test tool (ex: SeaTools) from the drive's manufacturer to see if the hard drive passes or not.

Do you have a system image backup that you could use to restore with?

I have checked the harddisk with chkdsk /r and it reports no problem. What I need now is the win 8.1 repair disk- trying to create one online refuses to accept my genuine win 8.0 product key. I have a Win 8.0 DVD (Not the one I used to upgrade from win 7) and whenever I want to Refresh the Installation it will give a message that I should unlock the PC on which the Windows folder is Installed. What next?
