Don't you just HATE these type of installs

I REALLY carefully watch what I'm downloading and installing but it looks like some thingies get in somehow, mostly PUPs though, so Mbam gets rid of them easily. Weekly scan with Mbam and checking thru Revo Uninstaller almost invariably find something I didn't put in voluntarily.

I'm sure everyone has gotten a PC where the owner says its way slower than it should be, can you take a look. Then you open IE and see 30 or so toolbars.
There are some uninformed users that think they have to accept all those extras to get the download. Or they just blindly keep clicking to get the install done.
That's why the boxes are check marked by default. My step daughter was like that until I clued her in and told her, she would be fixing it the next time. I'm sure a lot here that have an aunt, uncle, grandmother, grandfather, etc that fits that bill.

Since "Informed users " are in serious minority it's not wander why such a proliferation of Add-porn. Yes, I have seen browsers left with space for only a few lines left for actual content. Have to explain even to some experienced people that times of Next> next> next are gone, have to watch every step you make online and when installing programs.

QFT. I've been turning to open source alternatives for years instead of so-called FREE applications. This isn't the monopoly of linux, there are plenty of open source apps that are even windows only (foobar2000 for example).

I can't tell you how many people I've helped get rid of crap installed by them clicking on the wrong link. I especially deal a lot with elders (big surprise), some of who are using computers for the first time. They are REALLY confused and trust people too much.

    Here's a video I did awhile back.

It does take money for developers to keep their content on the web but use caution!
And..., who 'donates' for free software!? (actually, I have donated once or twice for really good, legit software)

(I'm not endorsing this software in any way, shape or form; this is merely an observational video!)
