Onenote 2013 free - corrupted and unreadable

    Hi
I downloaded months ago Onenote 2013 free onto my Win 8.1 laptop.

I wanted to use Onenote like I did when I had 'Evernote' installed such as being able to send information to Onenote by right clicking and easily sending it that way, but it never worked as easily as 'Evernote'.

I'm sidetracking: I clicked on 'Onenote' and it said it was 'corrupted and unreadable'.

As I don't use the installed 'Onenote' on my laptop I decided to uninstall it using 'Advanced uninstaller pro 11'.

'Advanced uninstaller pro 11' looked for leftover files in the registry and it found over 400!

That is the most that has ever been found for any program I have uninstalled before and am worried about deleting these registry which have been found.

I don't want to leave all these registry behind but I don't know if all of them are safe to remove.

Does Microsoft have a 'Onenote 2013 free' uninstall tool?

    Thanks

Hi there. Is this the OneNote Win32 desktop edition or the Store app edition?

Does the 'Advanced uninstaller pro 11' have an option to backup any Registry entries that are to be corrected or deleted?

    Thanks for replying

    It's the desktop edition.

Advanced uninstaller does not backup the registry.

I've used regedit to export all registry entries and saved it on my laptop.

I also saved it on a USB stick.

Sorry. I should have asked this prior > Was this a stand alone or included with an Office suite?

Just run Advanced Uninstaller 11 again:

437 registry entries and 2668 files (with a total size of 1.8GB) leftover files will be deleted!

Some of the Registry entries mention 'Microsoft Office 15' which I guess came with the free Onenote 2013 - I'm not too sure.

Do you have Office suite installed or separate Office programs installed is what I'm trying to ask. Did it come preinstalled on the machine or did you install?

I suggest not deleting anything just yet.

I've never installed Office suite as I've no need for it, so it must have been installed when I installed Onenote.

I bought my Dell laptop brand new and it could have come preinstalled, but I don't think it did.

I used Ccleaner to see all programs installed, and Office suite is not there.

Does 1.8GB of leftover files sound a bit much?

OK. It probably came preinstalled since it's an OEM machine.

I trust CCleaner, for I've used it a lot. Recommended by many members here also. I would have used the uninstaller in that or in Windows, but that's here nor there now. Use your better judgment, but I would use the Registry cleaner in CCleaner using the backup option. You could always add it back. I know you mentioned doing it via regedit manually.

No matter what method you use, use it at your own discretion. Use caution and good luck!

Does Ccleaner delete the registry aswell - does it look for leftover files, or will they be left behind?

I downloaded Onenote 2013 free again, thinking that it might pop up saying that I already have Onenote 2013 installed and maybe asking if I wanted to uninstall it, but all it did was install it again, which I didn't really want to happen, because I don't know if I have two lots of Onenote 2013 installed now, although Ccleaner is only showing Onenote 2013 once.

What do you think happened when it was installed again?

It is now working now though.
