I've seen several posts on here about WMP not playing a variety of types of files, though many of the posts I've seen are a few years old. I don't know whether the solutions in them/downloads suggested are still applicable. I can play video files -- but I only get audio, no video. I've seen several posts that direct to a CNET download called Media Player Codec Pack. It's highly rated by both CNET and users, but when I tried to download it, my antivirus blocked it as a trojan. I've seen many posts for this K-lite program, but I've also seen a lot of posts that say it has caused issues. I'm not overly techy and don't want to get into registry and what not. My machine is brand new, though, and I'm leery of downloading something that could potentially harm it. Does anyone have a recommendation as to how I can solve this issue? Is there another, safe player that folks recommend? Anytime I encountered a problem with WMP in W7, it automatically figured out what it was and downloaded the appropriate file/codec. Apparently, that's not the case in W8.1. Can anyone help? I'd really appreciate it.

Jamie
