After system restore, majority of programs not working

    Dear All,

My laptop (Dell Inspiron 2013 64-bit) was playing up today and instead of restarting it, I foolishly clicked on the option to "refresh the pc". Little did I know that this would remove all my current programs....

I decided then to do a System Restore. Now, all my programs are back, however, the majority of my programs such Firefox, Microsoft Office and such will not even open!!!

I would just like to know if there is anyway to get these programs running again without having to reinstall them all?

I would deeply appreciate any help in resolving this matter.

    Thanks in advance!

If you did a system restore after the Refresh, it was too late. Roy will have to reinstall those programs.

    Thanks, I see.

I just noticed on Task Manager, under Services, a lot of them have a status as "stopped". I am restarting them all.

However, some like the Remote Registry and Remote Access can not restart . This error message pops up saying:

"The operation could not be completed. The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or has no enabled devices associated with it."

Any clue on how to fix this?

    Much appreciated!!

See this tutorial, read the section Which setting will be preserved and those that will not.

Is refreshing the only option I have left?

Your original post stated that you clicked Refresh by error. If it did not complete, do it again.
