Hello Community,
Today I started on do a disk defrag on my wifes computer using defraggler. When I opened the application under "disk health" in yellow said warning. I went to the health tab and shows the HDD temp is green which means within the allowable number but what can I do to give me more information on why I am getting this message?

I'm no expert here but it's reading the SMART capabilities of your drive. You might be able to gleen something from this link
S.M.A.R.T. - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

something might stick out.

A bit further down are links to SMART tools. I notice speccy is listed from the same makers as defraggler.

I'm sure someone else can recommed good programmes to download:geek:

slight edit: the list of Smart tools can be found under a link near the bottom of the page

Yes, indeed. However, you still can use the disk but keep your important data backup just in case.

Should I consider replacing the HDD here in the near future?

Absolutely

A small number of reallocated sectors is no cause for concern. But 526 is not a small number. Such errors are usually progressive and will get worse over time. The length of time is unknowable. Be prepared for disk failure at any time.

You are fortunate to have received this warning as many drives fail with no warning or apparent cause.

So once I get the new HDD can I just clone the the image from the old HDD even with bad sectors? I had just done a fresh install 3 months ago and would imagine to be faster then installing Windows 7, upgrading to 8 then upgrading to 8.1, installing all drivers, software and restore the backup.

You'll be fine. I suggest that while your HD is still in working condition, move all personal data to an external hard disk then make a backup image containing your Windows partitions only. Once you get a new disk then just restore the Windows Image back to the new disk then run commands such as chkdsk+sfc+dism to ensure everything is in clean working order.

Free Macrium backup/Restore is good.

There's step by step tutorial videos from youtube showing how to backup/restore.

Thanks for all the responses. I would love to put an SSD in my wifes computer, however my wife would not want to spend the money. So $50 HDD it is.

Also thanks for the the input on doing a restore. I will make a restore image.
