I clicked on a PDF file of a book on HTML5 which I thought would open in Adobe Reader. Oops... it opened in Reader. Yes, I know I can fix that and I will. One page at a time is okay for a novel if you are starting at the beginning. Perhaps there is a way to save your place. But it is useless for technical book where you want to jump to the part of interest.

I worked my up from a virtual machine, to a slow 32-bit celeron and now two monitors on my XPS8100. Works great!
the metro reader doesn't work at all for me. :(

i've got the amazon kindle reader installed on my windows 7 partition, and that has the ability to read pdf's and set bookmarks.

alternatively, there's adobe digital editions, which is an ebook reader and also does bookmarks.

i haven't tried any of these on 8, but i don't see why they shouldn't work.

or another option would be a decent pdf reader, such as the free nitro pdf reader, you can bookmark, write notes etc etc

Right-click on the reader and then click on More at the foot of the screen. One of the options that pops up is Bookmarks. Alternatively, whilst you have the footbar showing, you can click on Find to search the currently opened document for the word/phrase you wish to find.
