What do you think is the best system optimizer? [2014]

Hello, I was wondering what you guys think is the best system optimizer. Please note that if you do not use system optimizers, there is an option in the poll that says you do not use system optimizers. The poll can be found here: What do you think is the best system optimizer? [2014] | Polldaddy.com.

Feel free to discuss optimizers in this thread!

You should probably separate poll for free and paid versions, otherwise free will always win, since most people use them. You can find the free alternatives pretty much for everything. As for the results, I have been using optimizers for ages and even the best one can improve performance only by about 5%. No wonder, people consider them to be junk, when some of them claim, that they can increase performance up to 300-500%.

I am not surprised to see CCleaner as a winner, since is works great, but it is still safe, it does not remove everything. I personally use CCleaner along with WiseCare365 Free, it contains registry cleaner and defrag as well as HDD defrag and junk files cleaner. No issues or problems thus far. It is as safe as it could be.

P.S. By the way, thanks for the poll, I am going to try them out, you have got a nice list there.

Well the poll was closed so I didn't get to vote.
My opinion is not to use any optimizers. You should be creating Images of your system as you go along, and if your running in to problems just restore a Image from before the issue.

Good news, the poll is now re-opened!

    1. After lots of changes to separate free products from paid, the poll is finally re-opened! There is now a best free and best paid system optimizer. There is a down-side though, the poll results had to be reset since a person may have voted for say Advanced SystemCare and meant to vote for the free version but the results show a vote for the paid. I apologize for inconveniences. Please message me (recommended) or post here if you have any questions. Please re-submit your votes.

Just a note: I would advice anyone to stay away from IObit products. Not just because of this:
150 Million Users' Choice - Boost Your PC 300% Faster
As I have mentioned before, I did a quick test of free versions and I would recommend:

    1. CCleaner - is it a swiss knife for computers, it should be preinstalled on every computer, a problem solver.
    2. WiseCare365 Free - obviously, that is why I use it and you do not need to buy Pro version, Free has it all.
    3. Glary Utilities - GUI looks old, but it has some great tools: boot defrag and task scheduler startup manager.

That depends, what you consider as a system optimizer. Those "optimizers" includes various tools like HDD defrag, a deeper uninstall manager. Microsoft does not have a patent for creating the best apps, just look at IE, WMP, so why use the default tools? It is OK, if you satisfied, if something just works, but if you want something more, there are better alternatives. Creating an image or reinstal do not solve problems, they avoid them by going back, but problems tend to keep appearing again, if you keep using computer the same way.

If those "Optimizers" can send me a new processor that is 300 % faster along with double the memory, new MB , GPU etc. I would believe them only partially because even with my system that's pretty dated there is still no other PC that can be 3 times faster than it. That's hardware we are talking about, how's any kind of SW can do that ? So much "snake oil" they promise that I don't really know how can somebody be so gullible to believe it. How dirty and misused can a system be (probably to a point to usability) for any of software to help it be faster. I can understand using a program for cleaning some junk (not all) for some people not too proficient with OS or do not want to bather to do it with tools provided in the OS itself, but to fall for such scams which can ruin the system (and they do that a lot) is unforgivable. After often repairing systems ruined by some of those "miracle" programs I am very sure in it.

Please vote here, there is "They are nothing but trouble." and "I don't use a system optimizer." options.

To me such things as junk file cleaners, registry cleaners, and disk defragmenters are not system optimizers but maintenance tools. Whether some of these things should be done is another matter. I will not speak of the evils of registry cleaners at this time. In this category there are tools better than those supplied by Microsoft. Microsoft has decided to focus on the OS itself (where third parties have little scope) rather than than the applications that run under it. I think it a wise choice.

An optimizer would be some utility that improves the performance of a healthy system. That would be something that improves memory management, disk performance, or in some way improves the way CPU resources are used. Memory optimizers do not work and are in fact worse than useless. Much of the rest may improve some aspect of performance but cost you elsewhere. In many cases it is one step forward, two steps back. There are a very few that might be worthwhile, and I remain skeptical. I will mention none. Don't ask.

I don't use any optimizers and have voted appropriately.
