Processor: Intel Pentium G2020T @2.5 gHz
Main RAM: 8 GB
Windows 8.1 64-bit "Activated"
Harddrive: 1 TB
Trying to install Google "Sketchup" by executing google-sketchup_setup.exe
Following sequence occurs with no error report:
1. Double-click file in Windows Explorer
2. Dialog box: "Do you want to run this file?" Click Run
3. Screen blanks and dims. Dialog box: "Do you want to allow [Windows Command
Processor] to make changes to this computer?" Sigh and click Yes
4. Command (DOS-like) window: "SUCCESS: The file (or folder): "C:\AWork\net
\google-sketchup_setup.exe" now owned by user "BIGWRT\DenTV".
processed file: C:\AWork\net\google-sketchup_setup.exe
Successfully processed 1 files; Failed processing 0 files
Press any key to continue . . ." Press a key
5. All install boxes close. But the desired program is not installed.
I've used Windows-8 only a few months after years with -XP, don't understand key
concepts and can't find comprehensible explanations. "Go to Admin Mode" has been
suggested; how do I do that? "Make changes in 'Local Control;' how do I invoke
that? Changing the "UAC" has no effect. I understand that Microsoft is trying to
prevent malicious software installation, but this is ridiculous!
Thanks for your attention.
