    Using Macrium Reflect

This is how I do it.
    Works good.

    First install it.
I have the paid Standard version:

    Then create the recovery environment:

    Then image all local drives.

    I use maximum compression:

    On usb:

This is how I do it.
    It works good for me.

Good tutorial for those who want to use Macrium. Acronis is more to my liking though but that's me.

    Thank you.

It is just a quick tutorial.
    Didn't cover everything.

Enough to get one started at making system images.

For example, when making the boot menu option you will be prompted to download the PE5 software.
    About 400 or 500 MBs.
    This is needed.

I made it so short because I figured people had enough common sense to follow any prompts that popped up.

    Good one David!
Hope those that have done store upgrades take note or they may get a nasty surprise should they need to reset/restore from recovery or something...

It certainly will. And may I add to your tutorial:
Macrium is not just a good backup/Restore software that has never failed me. In the past, I used Acronis for a long time until I found out it modified the MBR and has installed services that I could not get rid of even when I did a complete uninstall and also the backup image might be good one day and the next day it went bad, it did not only happened to me but to several of my co workers so I dumped it.

Having said all that. Here's what I found in addition to be good for backup/restore (paid version only). You can also use it as a partition manager, you can move partitions around , resize, expand partition to the left etc... just using drag & drop

Here's an example how to re-arrange the partitions:

Anyone can feel free to add to it.

    The more information the better.

Depending on your system you may not want to "image all local drives". My laptop has a conventional hard drive and a small SSD drive that caches frequently used stuff. Since there is no reason to image the SSD I only image the main HD.

To do this I use the "Image this disk" link under the main drive in the Reflect window.

Yes, most of them are similar in overall cocept. I use a different one, Aomei ( very good free standard version available).

Image partitions/drives/system and file backup. Manual/scheduled. Clone partition/drive. Full/incremental/differential. Restore partition/drive/system/files from image. Resize partitions during restore.

Overall it offers more than any other free version. It is also small, fast, unintrusive and makes pe recovery media without needing a large download.

You might want to look at a couple and see what you like. E.G. Paragon free doesn't have as many features as Aomei, and it is a lot bigger, but it does have a couple of different features. It can exclude files/folders from images, which might be useful to you, or not.

    Depends what you want.
