I'm playing with this free Siri like virtual assistant for Windows PC called SpeakToIt. Speaktoit - Your Personal Assistant

Unfortunatly it's a cruddy Metro UI version and not a real desktop application. I had to use a tile manager tool called OblyTile v0.9.8 to be able to make a desktop shortcut because I don't a truck with 8.1 That tool is here btw: [APP] OblyTile - Tile Creator for all programs. - xda-developers

Now I want this app to run in a window instead of fullscreen. An app like this.. i don't get it.. why leave it full screen when you have to multitask? I'd like to run this in a custom sized window that I can tell to always stay on top of other apps.

Is there a way to do this?

Thanks for the answers.

Unfortunately I don't have the 5 bucks right now so I'm searching for a free way to do this.

I feel I should not have to anyway as microsoft dropped the ball when making windows 8. They should have put in this feature by default as well as pinning the metro app to the taskbar and creating metro app shortcuts to the desktop. I think it's criminal MS forces folks to upgrade to the very bad for desktop users 8.1 update - 8.1 is only good IMO if you have a windows pc tablet. It changes too many things IMO. Oh well, just a bit of a rant.

You can continue to use the same apps that you were using in Windows 7, which all run in a window. I have been a user of Windows 8 since its preview release. Whilst I have tried a few, currently I have not found any really useful ones, so far, which do not have a legacy (Win 7) equivalent, so, although I do have Modermix, I do not really consider it a problem.
I am not familiar with "speaktoit", but I feel certain the same argument applies.
To be fair to MS, I have no idea how you obtained Windows 8. Perhaps, unluckily, bought already installed. But of course, MS did not force you into the purchase, either way.

Interesting. I think I will give it a miss, until it develops. I wonder if it will remain free when complete, though, otherwise it will be in direct competition with Modernmix, which already has the monopoly .

It would be nostalgic if they took the hotkey approach. Run an App full screen but hit a hotkey to pop up another in a window. Just like the old Dos TSRs. :)
