Win8 Preview: No Metro Apps at all only "the view is empty" :(

    Hello Large Brains,

I need some help. I recently installed Windows 8 Customer Preview over (not partitioned ((stupid))) Windows 7.
Everything seemed to work fine in the installation process. I did selected to KEEP my Legacy Software, Files & Settings...

THE PROBLEM is that when Win 8 opens up there is a blank screen. Charms load. Can access Search for Apps, Files, Settings. Search for Files and Settings works but NOTHING comes up for apps. I am forced just to win E myself into the old desktop and not use Metro at all.

I am on my 2nd install and has nothing changed. I did a SFC /SCAN as admin and it procuded some errors and fixed them but nothing has changed.

What do you think is the problem. I know there is a solution without having to REFRESH. That is just silly.

    Please Help my friends,
    gie

    found this in another thread:

The problem is probably on Net Framework 4.5 beta. Is integrated in the Windows 8 Consumer Preview and you need it for launching Metro apps.

Try to fix it running SFC /SCANNOW

.Net Framework 4.5 is part of Windows 8 and as such, can be installed/uninstalled using "Turn Windows features on or off".

I am also unable to open Metro apps (ie, Remote desktop client) and my user account is not able to even see the basic Metro apps like Weather.

This is incorrect i believe. Through Windows Features, .Net Framework 4.5 can only be DISABLED/ENABLED...not uninstalled/installed. That is the problem i am having now. I am trying to uninstall my current .Net Framework but having trouble doing this.

Just wondering if Win 8.1 somehow made available a "all programs" list view (as per win 7 start) versus the highly undesirable Metro all programs view ? Can't find any evidence of it ? Is there a way to boot into desktop view directly (as opposed to metro view) yet ? Or am I going to have to buy...
Well, here is a fun one. A coworker spent the entire day getting a Windows 8 machine up and ready for imaging. As part of the process, he went ahead and let it update the metro apps from the store. Big mistake: Apparently updating Metro apps breaks sysprep; Sysprep giving "fatal error" --...
Hey guys! I am new to this forums, and I have my metro apps basically sitting there in start menu, and pretty much none of them works. Mine is Windows 8 pro and I can't even login to a Microsoft account in Users settings. The only thing that seems to work is Windows Update, and no app that needs...
I know how to display two metro apps in a 85/15 (approx.) split screen but is there any way to give each app equal screen space (i.e. 50/50 split)? I can't seem to find a definitive answer for this.

As a desktop power user (large screen monitor(s), several windows open, complex programs, writing, spreadsheet, coding, picture manipulation, etc.) have you found any "Metro" (full screen on your monitor) apps that pull you away from the desktop?
