What happens when I install Office with OneDrive?

Windows 8.1.1 has OneDrive heavily integrated

Usually, when I install my Office 2013 Home & Business Edition, the stupid thing install everything by default without giving me the choice of what componens I want to install, so it installs its own OneDrive app as well which I then manually uninstall but it still keeps startup entries and registry entries which I can clearly see in my startup items using Autoruns

Now I have done a fresh install of Windows 8.1 and am afraid this would cause issues

what do you think / suggest?

Where did you acquire your office 2013? If I remember correctly if its not giving you an option to pick and chose what to install its because there is a configuration file added. An auto answer type of file. I used to know what it was called and where it was but I can't remember now. Our work copy was like that, it entered the company name, owners name, and product code automatically. The setup options were set too so you didn't get prompted to pick a custom install.

I have Office 2013 installed, I used the "run all from this PC" option when I installed it. I did the update 1 after that. I see "OneDrive for Business" listed on my Start Screen under Office 2013. Updsate must have changed it from SkyDrive to OneDrive. I don't use OneDrive other than to sync PC settings so that's about all I can tell you.

I have the installer which I got from the Office Store online

It doesn't even need a key it has my product key embedded in it. It's like a few hundred KB only then it downloads all the components on the fly

It doesn't give you options of what components to install.

I also have the Office 2013 Home & Business Edition DVD that I originally bought and even that doesn't give you options of what components to install like it is the case in Office 2013 Professional Plus.

This problem is all over the web

OK. my version is the Pro version downloaded from MSDN. It looks like your version Home & Business is locked into a full install. It would appear you don't have much choice. Be careful linking to the MDL forum, some of the content on that site could get you in trouble here. I don't have anything to suggest at this time to get around the full install.

oh sorry I didn't know that.

I just downloaded the latest installer for Office 2013 Home & Business from my account for Office, hoping that maybe Microsoft would have realized that there is no need to install OneDrive again since it is already built into the system but nope, as I expected, it installed a double version of OneDrive, I saw its new startup entries in the startup files

I uninstalled OneDrive manually from Control Panel then deleted the registry entries but this is a joke really.

In Microsoft's defense, these posts, and posts Ive read, are back in early 2013. I can understand the frustration from back then but research before purchase in the last 12 months would show this install issue to be a factor to consider when purchasing.

The link you just gave us is a link to a blog explaining that you can not custom install, it was published in March 2013. Its over a year old.

One person was stating that they didn't want to use Outlook 2013. Simple answer is, don't start it and don't set it up. I fail to see the problem, unless its a Hard Drive space issue.

What sort of issues you are worried it will cause maximus?

The content you linked too was fine. I just wanted to give you a heads up so you wouldn't get in hot water at a later time. I went back and had another look at my Start Screen and did find two entries for OneDrive. One under productivity labeled just OneDrive, and another under office 2013 labeled OneDrive For Business. The one just labeled OneDrive is I believe a Metro App and the one labeled OneDrive for Business is a desktop program. They each launch distinctly different menus.

issues? having 2 OneDrive Apps? with the latter adding 3 different new startup items that are causing my sync to now fail saying cannot download 2 more files just as an example.

I now have OneDrive sitting in the taskbar with a nice exclamation mark

yeah that's fine, but what the Office Home & Business adds is a separate desktop app with new startup items that clash with the previous version.

Sign out of the office version, save to computer by default and let your sync do the rest

with all due respect maximus, you made this thread. Adding question marks to statements and saying "as an example" isnt enabling me to try join in and assist helping you to find resolution. In fact its kind of patronising.

If my answers seem vague its because first you asked if people could predict your possible issues, then started listing issues. I like to search for answers, if i new the specific issues i can try help, I like to help. Ive used office since it replaced works, I just havent got 2013
