Problem with closing apps since update 1 yesterday

Hello I'm new here so if my question has been asked and/or answered I apologize.Since yesterday's 8.1 update 1 apps will no longer close on my non touch laptop by dragging them to the bottom of the screen and flipping them.I have noticed that when I go to the top of the screen to grab my cursor no longer becomes a hand but I can still drag the app to the bottom to flip it but then in immediately goes back to full screen and continues to run.Has this method of closing apps been removed for non touch devices in yesterday's update?

The drag and flip still works for me. The hand is gone so I just drag the title bar down.

There is supposed to be a close button on all app windows now? Is it not there?

If you are referring to the X at the top right that will only suspend the app not close it.

Yeah but the issue is some apps still appear to be running in task manager after using the X to close, while the drag and close method actually closes the app in task manager. Pretty much what bdubs said.

    A bit weird

What is really weird is if the app I want to close is in the app switcher column on the left I can drag and flip it and it will close. However no matter what I try in full screen it will not.

Just tested on several different apps...

Close via icon on left of black bar... Suspends

    Close by red 'X'... Suspends.

    Drag but not flip... Suspends.

    Drag and flip... Closes.

    Alt + F4... Closes.

Hope this helps clear up any confusion.

Sounds like Alt+F4 is your best bet then.

I've isolated the problem to having the click lock enabled on the trackpad.Would anyone have any ideas why update 1 one would have changed this function?

After Windows 8 forced an update on me yesterday and shut down my computer, there is now constant 2-3 second delays when I go to a new window before I can type anything in the text field. How to Speed Up Closing Modern Apps in Windows 8.1 By default, when you drag to close a modern app in Windows 8.1, you would need to drag the app from the top to the bottom of the screen, then wait 2 seconds for the app tile to flip over to release and close the app. This tutorial will show...
My 8.1 Update 1 HTPC now sends us to the desktop instead of the Start screen when we close an app. I know of the setting in taskbar properties to always go to the desktop instead of start when an app is closed. This option is unchecked. It looks like any non-touch Update 1 PC just ignores this...
