How to sync Hotmail drats folder in Windows 8.1 mail app?

Hi all,

I am using mail app on windows 8.1. It was working fine in the morning. But few hours ago I noticed that it shows my drafts folder empty and the interface has also changed a bit.

I did not update anything at all. My automatic update setting is off. I have synced it a lot of times. It shows my emails from all other folders but not from drafts. And it is not like it can't do it. Until yesterday, I was being able to view the drafts seamlessly. It just happened now.

Could you please help me resolve this issue?

Thank you,
Vividh

Yes. But the drafts that I created on the computer itself are visible...but the drafts on my hotmail account online aren't.

By online do you mean your inbox ?

By online I meant, when I open hotmail.com or outlook.com or mail.live.com on my browser. The drafts I can see then are not synching with the windows 8.1 app. And to my surprise, even few other folders that I created myself, like my 'personal and friends' folder, is also coming empty. And when I click sync, it shows 'syncing' for a while, and then it shows 'up to date'.

Or this ?
If so my drafts don't show up either.

Yes. Exactly. In my case, the drafts can be seen when I open my mails in a browser. but can't be seen inside the windows mail app.
I was able to seem them till this morning. I don't know what happened after that. Even the UI changed. Mine UI was a bit different than one in the screenshots you shared. But now it is similar to yours. not sure what exactly happened. :(

If I save a draft online it appears:

That is correct. If I save a draft online, in a browser, it appears there only, not in windows app. All the emails get synced. I can view all the emails on my windows mail app. However, that is not the case with 'drafts' folder.

This is on browser:

This is on windows mail app:

Since it changed, it's probably something Microsoft did.

My experience is the same as yours. :(

I'm sorry I can't offer a solution. :(

No problem at all, David. Thanks for sticking by it for this much.

And, just curious about your Avatar pic. hehe. Any particular reason for choosing this image?

I just like Ganesha.

Hi There

can anyone recommend a solution for the draft issue?

Hi Mascaritas,

unfortunately there is not a solution YET. Not yet two years and a half later your post.

See details I have posted here:Windows 10 Mail app - Syncing of draft emails across platforms - Microsoft Community

I have read here at eightforums.com that this feature has been working one day in the meantime around September 2015. I can't believe it! What would be weird is that Microsoft would have implemented it then removed it. Why? test

In a short: this strange behavior of syncing all folders but Drafts is not related to MSN/Hotmail/Live Mail/Outlook.com messaging service but to functionality missing in Windows 8/10 Mail. I DO SYNC DRAFT FOLDER OF ANY OUTLOOK.COM / LIVE MAIL ACCOUNT USING OUTLOOK DESKTOP VERSION (2013 OR 2016 EDITIONS) WITH A EMAIL ACCOUNT SET UP AS USING IMAP OR EXCHANGE ACTIVESYNC PROTOCOL INSTEAD OF POP3.

Hope it helps! The solution while using W8.1/W10 Mail: none but just waiting for Microsoft to (re)implement this really missing feature.

Cheers from France
